ImageACCOUNTS
Major credit cards, cheques and travellers cheques in Australian dollars are accepted. Contact the Patient Accounts Department from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm daily for any queries on charges, benefits and payment.

ADAPTORS
Multi-adaptors for different electrical appliances are
available for use. Voltage is 240.
For converters from 110 volts, Environmental Services can be contacted until 9 pm daily.

AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING
The temperature control is set centrally for the Hospital. Heated blankets are available on request from the nurse.

ALCOHOL
Alcohol should not be consumed before any procedure or in conjunction with medication.

AMENITIES
Guest amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, shaving kit, toothbrush, toothpaste and combs are available on request from Environmental Services until 9 pm daily.

BANQUET, MEETING & CONFERENCE FACILITIES
Well-appointed and fully equipped meeting and function facilities are available in the Hospital. Our Hotel Services Department will be pleased to assist you.

BATH ROBES
If you would like a bathrobe or dressing gown for use during your stay, please contact Environmental Services before 9 pm daily.

BUSINESS CENTRE SERVICES
Should you have any special requirements such as facsimile services, typing or other, please call Hotel Services during business hours.

CAR PARKING
We regret there is no car parking available within St Vincent’s Private Hospital. 
Patients may be dropped off and picked up at the Victoria Street entrance.

  • A five-minute limit applies
  • Vehicles must be attended at all times.

CAR PARKING FOR VISITORS
Parking is available at St Vincent’s Hospital and St Vincent’s Clinic (space permitting).
Enter St Vincent’s Hospital car park from Victoria Street.
The Clinic car park is accessed from Barcom Avenue.
Hourly rates apply to both.

PARKING AFTER 4 pm, MONDAY TO FRIDAY
After 4 pm from Monday to Friday visitors may park free of charge in St Vincent’s Private Hospital car park – access via Barcom Avenue.

  • Please advise the car park attendant of the name of the patient you are visiting.
  • An exit card will be provided at this time.
  • If the car park is unattended, an exit card can be collected from the reception desk on level 4.

PARKING ON WEEKENDS & PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Visitors may park free of charge on weekends and public holidays.

  • No overnight parking is available.

CHECK OUT
Patients are asked to vacate their room by 10 am on the day of departure.
The Transit Lounge, on Level 4, is available for patients to await pickup.

CHURCHES & OTHER PLACES OF WORSHIP
The Hospital Chapel, located on level 4, is open daily.
Mass is celebrated throughout the week.

MASS ON TELEVISION
Wednesday 
 11.30 am on channel 24
Sunday            10.30 am on channel 24

The Campus Chapel is located on the grounds of Sacred Heart, on Victoria Street, opposite the Hospital. Mass is celebrated on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 12.30 pm.

COSMAC SURGICAL APPLIANCES
Cosmac Surgical Appliances is located at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Pharmacy, in the Hospital entrance foyer. Trained healthcare professionals are available weekdays to assess, measure and fit surgical garments including medical compression stockings, travel stockings, body supports and braces. 

Appointments are advisable as fittings are required for most items.
Monday to Friday 9 am to 5pm (although the last fitting of the day is at 4 pm).

DIETITIAN
Our Clinical Dieticians are available for consultation if you have any nutrition-related issues. Please contact your nurse. Nutrition and healthy heart education sessions are conducted weekly.
All patients and carers are welcome to attend.

  • Level 7
  • Tuesday mornings at 10.30 am
  • Sessions are also available in French upon request. Please contact Translation Services.

DO NOT DISTURB
A “do not disturb” light is located on patients’ bedside panels.
Please note that patient rooms will not be serviced as long as the “do not disturb” light is on.

Patients who do not wish to receive phone calls can organise this through the nurse on duty. Please note that the Operator cannot screen calls for patients.

EFTPOS
EFTPOS is available for settling Hospital accounts. However, cash out service is not available.
An ATM is located in the foyer of the Hospital.

ELECTRIC CURRENT
Electric current in Australia is 240 volts.
For converters to 110 volts or adaptors, contact Environmental Services until 9 pm.

EMERGENCY
In the event of any emergency, contact the nurse immediately, using the nurse call button.

FACSIMILE
The Hospital fax number is + 61 2 8382 7234.

Incoming faxes for Hospital guests are received through the Hospital Operator and then delivered to patient rooms.

To send a fax, a patient fax form is available from the nurse on duty. The nurse will attend to this when free from clinical duties. Charges of $1 per page apply for faxes sent within Australia, and $2 per page for faxes sent internationally. This service is available from the mail room during business hours and charges will be billed to the patient’s account.

FIRE SAFETY GUIDE
The Hospital is committed to the safety of all patients, visitors and staff.

  • Candles and naked flames are not permitted in the patient care areas.
  • Emergency procedures are in place and regular fire drills are conducted with all staff.
  • Our trained emergency team will attend to any emergency and manage the situation.
  • We ask patients to remain calm and to please wait for instructions from staff.

ImageFLOWERS
Our volunteers assist in maintaining flowers in patient rooms.
For infection control purposes, it is not advisable to have potted plants in the Hospital.

FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES
Nutrition Assistants collect the menus daily and provide assistance with menu choices and any special food requests.
If there are concerns about the menu, patients can speak with a Nutrition Assistant or notify their nurse.

HAIRDRESSER, MARIE GAI
The Marie Gai Beauty Therapy Salon offers hair, beauty and nail treatments, either in the salon on level 4 or in patient rooms.

HAIRDRYERS
Hairdryers are available through Environmental Services until 9 pm daily.

INTERPRETERS
The Hospital is able to organise interpreters and translators. Contact the nurse on duty.

LAUNDRY & VALET
Laundry and valet services are available via Environmental Services.
A nominal fee will apply and is payable in advance.
This service is available during business hours only.

LIBRARY SERVICE
Loan of books and magazines are available from the volunteers during business hours.

LOST & FOUND
All lost property is in the care of our Security Services.
Please contact the Nurse Unit Manager if you have any enquiries.

MAIL & POSTAGE
Personal mail will be delivered to your room. Stamps for outgoing mail can be purchased from the Hospital Pharmacy on level 4.

MASSAGE
Qualified massage therapists are available for remedial, healing, Bowen technique, reflexology and lymphatic drainage massages.

MEDICATIONS IN UNMARKED CONTAINERS
Please do not bring in Webster or Dosette type medications as we are unable to administer from these packs. Nor are we able to administer medications which are not in the original dispensed packs. Otherwise new medications will need to be supplied from the Hospital Pharmacy. This may result in a cost to the patient depending on their health fund coverage.

MENU
Menu are delivered to patient rooms daily. Nutrition Assistants collect the menu daily and provide assistance with any special food requests.

MOBILE PHONES
As these phones may interfere with sensitive equipment, the use of mobile phones in the Hospital is not permitted.

NEWSPAPERS
Local morning newspapers are delivered daily. Additional newspapers are available from the Wintergarden coffee shop or from the volunteers shopping trolley.

OUTREACH SHOP
Located on level 4 of St Vincent’s Clinic, the Outreach Shop sells many gifts, with proceeds supporting numerous community services. Open weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm.

PASTORAL CARE
As part of our holistic approach to patient care, Pastoral Carers are available as a listening and compassionate presence offering emotional and spiritual support where confidentiality is respected.

If requested, Catholic and Anglican chaplains are available, with regular visits by Jewish, Presbyterian, Uniting Church, Greek Orthodox, Salvation Army, Seventh Day Adventist and French-speaking Catholic chaplains.

PHARMACY
Located in the foyer of the Hospital, the Pharmacy stocks a wide range of personal and healthcare products, gifts, stamps, cards and flowers. Cosmac Surgical appliances are located within the Pharmacy and fitting specialists are available to fit travel and compression stockings and other surgical appliances including mastectomy products.
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.15 pm

SAFETY DEPOSIT DRAWER
Each patient room is equipped with a safety deposit drawer. If required, valuables can be kept in the Hospital safe which is accessible 24 hours, seven days a week.

SECURITY & SAFETY
As the Hospital does not accept responsibility for lost or stolen property, patients are encouraged not to bring any valuables to the Hospital. We recommend guests use the safety deposit drawers provided in every room. Valuables can also be kept in the Hospital safe.

SECRETARIAL SERVICES
Secretarial services are available via Support Services during business hours.

SHAVING SETS
These are available from Environmental Services until 9 pm daily.

SMOKING
As requested by NSW Health, smoking is not permitted in any area within the Hospital or Clinic. This includes the external area of the coffee shop.

STATIONERY
Additional stationery such as writing paper, envelopes and other sundry items, are available from Environmental Services until 9 pm daily.

TAXIS
A taxi direct telephone line is located in the foyer of the Hospital.

In consideration for all patients, we request that phone calls are not made to patients after 10.00 pm.
Public telephones are located on level 4, in the corridor leading to the Chapel. Phones accept coins only.

TRANSIT LOUNGE
The Transit Lounge is located on level 4 of the Hospital. It is available on weekdays from 8.30 am until 5.30 pm for early arrivals and departures and is supervised by nursing staff.
Television, newspapers, magazines, meals and drinks are provided, as required.
Please note the facility is not available for ambulance patients for discharge.

TRANSLATION SERVICES
Interpreters and translators can be arranged by contacting the nurse on duty.

TRANSPORTATION

Bus
Routes 378 and 311 (from Railway Square) and 380 (from Circular Quay) run along Oxford Street. The nearest bus stop is near the Supreme Court, Oxford Street; a short walk to St Vincent’s Private Hospital.

Train
The closest station is Kings Cross on the Eastern Suburbs Line.
St Vincent’s Private Hospital is a 15 minute walk from the station along Victoria Street.

Taxi
There is a free taxi phone on level 4 in the Hospital foyer.

VISITING HOURS
11.00 am to 1.00 pm
2.30 pm to 8.30 pm

Before 11.00 am patients are usually undergoing treatment or tests, taking medication or being prepared for surgery.

Outside these times visitors should make arrangements to see the Nurse Unit Manager on the appropriate floor.

In consideration for all patients, we request that phone calls are not made to patients after 10.00 pm.

VOLUNTEERS
Our volunteers make a highly valued contribution. They wear a distinctive black and white uniform and assist our staff in greeting patients and visitors, and helping patients with small tasks like caring for flowers. During the week volunteers tour the hospital with a trolley stocked with magazines, confectionery and toiletries. The volunteers also provide a library service offering a book and magazine loaning service.
